President Donald Trump has warned that he has strong veto powers if Democrats take control of the House in the midterm elections. Speaking to reporters before departing for Texas, Trump was asked how he would work with Democrats if Republicans lost control of the chamber. "I have a strong veto," Trump replied, adding that the two sides could still work out agreements. Asked whether he would respect the election results, Trump said, "I will if they're honest." His remarks come as Republicans and Democrats battle for control of Congress in the 2026 midterms.
