The CBI has expanded its probe into the alleged nexus between police personnel and a fake call centre busted in Nashik's Igatpuri in August 2025. Investigators suspect proxy SIM cards issued using unsuspecting citizens' identities enabled secret communication, protection money collection and concealment of digital trails. The agency is examining the role of at least seven police personnel.
