The Vande Mataram controversy has intensified in Jammu and Kashmir after Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and NC chief Farooq Abdullah stood during the extended rendition at the oath-taking ceremony of Justice Pushpendra Singh Bhati as Chief Justice of the J&K and Ladakh High Court. The episode comes after Congress objected to the full version being played at a Srinagar film festival. Congress defended the truncated version, while the National Conference rejected its argument. BJP leader RS Pathania also attacked Congress. The Centre has mandated all six stanzas at official events, while Congress retains its two-stanza policy.
