Maharashtra’s Transport Department is preparing a proposal for roadside drug testing of drivers using saliva-based swab kits. The preliminary tests could detect suspected drug use within minutes, while positive cases would undergo medical confirmation. The earlier proposal was estimated at Rs 25.81 crore, including GST.
