The Bombay High Court has increased compensation awarded to the family of a man killed in a 1992 road accident, ruling that contributory negligence cannot be presumed without evidence. The court enhanced the award from Rs 5 lakh to Rs 8.83 lakh with 9% annual interest, holding the insurer and vehicle owner jointly liable.
