The Centre for Journalism Innovation and Development (CJID) has announced plans to expand support for investigative journalism and independent newsrooms across West Africa as media organisations grapple with shrinking funding and increasing operational challenges. Executive Director Babatunde Akintunde announced at the inaugural CJID Ghana Media Summit in Accra, where media leaders, civil society organisations, policymakers and development partners gathered to discuss the future of journalism in the region. According to him, the organisation is implementing programmes to strengthen media sustainability in Ghana, Nigeria, The Gambia, Liberia and Sierra Leone.
