BBC presenter jokes about cuts as colleague disappears on screen | Lifestyle | Independent TV
A BBC Look North presenter joked about cuts at the broadcaster as his colleague failed to appear on screen to present the weather. Peter Levy was introducing Paul Hudson to announce the forecast, but the meteorologist was not visible to viewers. “Paul is here with the weather, but he's not here because we can't see him. All we got is a lovely picture of North Landing, which looks really nice, but we can't see you,” Levy joked, adding: “The BBC cuts are starting.” In June, the BBC announced plans for savings across the news, nations and content divisions, which are set to deliver £160m of £500m in savings needed by 2028/29. Around 2,000 jobs are expected to be cut as part of the process.
