WITH the introduction of the Agnipath scheme in June 2022, the Indian armed forces replaced their regular recruitment models for the other ranks (ORs -- sepoy and equivalent) with Agniveers (AGVs). The first batch is completing its four-year contract in December this year, with 25% being absorbed and the remaining 75% set to be released into civil life.
