The Maharashtra Transport Department has inducted 57 electric vehicles into its official fleet, becoming the first state government department to adopt EVs on such a large scale. Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik flagged off 15 staff cars in Mumbai under the Maharashtra Electric Vehicle Policy 2025, aimed at promoting clean mobility, reducing emissions and encouraging wider EV adoption.
