PM Event Security Scare: Imposter Nabbed In BKC, Claims Con Job, Remanded In Custody - India Today
A major security scare unfolded at the Prime Minister's event venue in Mumbai's Bandra Kurla Complex after a man posing as a Prime Minister's Office official attempted to enter the premises. The suspect, identified as Rohan Parekh, was arrested alongside an armed bodyguard and remanded to police custody until September 11. In court, Parekh's defence claimed that he had been conned since 2024 by an individual posing as an additional secretary to the Prime Minister, who purportedly offered him an advisory role in defence acquisition with documents allegedly signed by the Prime Minister. Parekh stated he entered the venue only to buy perfume for his fiancée. Police have launched a search for an associate named Prathamesh Bagul, while the Mumbai Crime Branch investigates whether a larger racket is operating in the name of the PMO.
