Bride-to-be Saz Burwin has been planning her wedding for months. Documenting each step of her journey on TikTok and YouTube, she has found the dress, sent out her invites and had the wild hen do. But the wedding has hit a snag. Saz and her partner are getting married at Manchester Register Office in Heron House - home to new prime minister Andy Burnham’s No 10 North. And when Mr Burnham had his first meeting with ministers in his new headquarters in Manchester on Friday, it was surrounded by a high security presence - something that Saz felt might get in the way of her big day next month. She posted a video on TikTok directed at Andy Burnham in which she said: ‘I saw that you’d set up your new gaffe at Heron House - saw it on the news. Gorgeous, love what you’ve done with the place. ‘I’m actually getting married there on the 21st of August and on the news today the place was surrounded with police, bollards, all sorts - a lot of stuff that wasn’t there before. ‘My trouble is I was planning to get nice photos. I’m just a bit worried that all of this is kind of ruining the vibe. So I would really appreciate it if you were maybe not there that day. ‘I mean, you’re invited - but maybe without the police escorts - the guys with the rifles. I don’t really know what we’re going to do if it’s surrounded by the military.’ Saz, a content creator with 3,100 followers, posted the tongue-in-cheek video on TikTok and was surprised to receive a response from Mr Burnham a few hours later. While he didn’t promise to attend the wedding, or move his security for the day, he popped a two-word comment on the video: ‘Noted Saz’. The new prime minister has made social media a huge part of his first week in office, posting daily clips of his latest policy announcements. He’s been ridiculed for videos such as one where he is filmed eating pork scratchings with his new chancellor John Healey and making a cup of tea. But it’s engaging news audience and Mr Burnham sees social media platforms and collaborations with influencers as a key way of getting the government's message to audiences it might not normally reach.
