The Crispy Onion Rings Took This Burger Over the Top

Make a homemade bacon cheeseburger piled high with smoky bacon, gooey cheese, and crunchy onion rings for a burger recipe that seriously delivers.

Zutaten:

  • 1 lb Ground Beef
  • 1 cup Shredded Cheese
  • 4 slices American Cheese
  • ½ lb Bacon
  • 1 cup Lettuce ( shredded)
  • ½ cup Mayonnaise
  • ½ cup BBQ Sauce
  • Salt and Pepper ( to taste)
  • 4 Hamburger Buns
  • 4 Shallots ( thinly sliced)
  • 1 cup Buttermilk
  • 1 ½ cups Flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon Pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Seasoning Salt
  • Vegetable Oil ( for frying)

Arbeitsschritte:

  • Make the Burgers
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, shredded cheese, salt, pepper, and seasoning salt.
  • Divide the beef mixture into 8 equal portions. Roll each portion into a ball and flatten into burger patties.
  • Preheat the grill to medium-high heat.
  • Grill the burger patties for 4 to 5 minutes per side or until cooked to your preferred doneness.
  • In the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheese on each patty and allow it to melt.
  • While the burgers cook, pan-fry the bacon until crispy. Drain on paper towels.
  • Make the Mini Onion Rings
  • Place the sliced shallots in a bowl with the buttermilk. Let soak for 1 hour.
  • In a separate bowl, combine the flour, salt, pepper, and seasoning salt.
  • Heat about 2 inches of vegetable oil in a deep skillet or saucepan to 375 degrees F.
  • Remove the shallots from the buttermilk and dredge them in the seasoned flour mixture.
  • Shake off excess flour and carefully place the shallots into the hot oil.
  • Fry for 1 to 2 minutes or until golden brown, stirring gently so they do not stick together.
  • Remove the onion rings with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
  • Assemble the Burgers
  • Spread mayonnaise and BBQ sauce on the hamburger buns.
  • Add a cheeseburger patty to the bun.
  • Top with bacon, shredded lettuce, and mini onion rings.
  • Serve immediately with extra onion rings on the side.
