Mumbai's BMC will assess advanced purification technology for Powai Lake after completing sewage control, desilting and water hyacinth removal. The lake, holding an estimated 5,455 million litres, currently supplies non-potable water. Any future drinking water use will depend on technical feasibility and compliance with prescribed water quality standards.
