Russian President Vladimir Putin praised Elon Musk as a “genius” while highlighting the tech billionaire’s satellite network and Russia’s space ambitions. Speaking during a visit to an exhibition on the sidelines of the Third Russia-Africa Summit in Moscow, Putin noted that Musk has more than 5,000 satellites in orbit, while Russia is only taking its first steps in the field. Putin also revealed that Moscow remains in close contact with its American partners, including Musk, stressing the importance of coordination, discipline and avoiding interference in orbit despite political tensions. The Russia-Africa Summit, held on October 28–29, brings together Russian officials and African leaders to discuss economic cooperation, security, science, technology and broader bilateral ties.
