Amid a 17-day strike by municipal sanitation workers, the district administration launched a late-night clean-up drive on Sunday to clear garbage from major dumping sites across Fatehabad city. Around 400 police personnel were deployed, while loaders, earthmoving machines and other equipment were brought in to remove the accumulated waste. As many as 60-70 striking sanitation workers were present at the dumping points and protested against the action.
