India and the United Kingdom have announced that their Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) will come into force on July 15, 2026. Jointly confirmed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, the deal is expected to significantly boost trade, investment and economic growth in both countries. The agreement liberalises 99% of UK tariffs and 90% of Indian tariffs. A key breakthrough was also reached on steel trade, with Britain increasing duty-free access for Indian steel exports to 85%.
