BEST plans to replace nearly 300 km of ageing underground power cables across south and central Mumbai under a ₹200-crore project targeted for completion by 2029. Nearly 1,200 fault-prone locations have been identified, following repeated outages and a suspected short-circuit fire in Bhuleshwar. Work may begin by January 2027.
