Madhya Pradesh’s prison reform law, passed in July 2024 and approved by the Governor in August that year, is yet to come into force as supporting rules remain under consideration. The legislation seeks to replace three older laws and introduce correctional institutions, technology, rehabilitation, open jails and stronger prisoner welfare measures.
