Trans athletes are a cheap political win. Banning trans women from sports requires no budget, no enforcement apparatus, no powerful industry to fight. It's a wedge issue that rallies a base, generates fundraising, and costs politicians nothing. Domestic violence and sexual assault, by contrast, implicate police, courts, shelters, employers, and sometimes donors and colleagues. That's expensive and risky.
