Zutaten:

1 pound fresh strawberries (hulled)
4 cups cold water (divided)
¼ cup granulated sugar
2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
3 to 5 large fresh basil leaves (or to taste (Note 1))
pinch of kosher salt
sliced strawberries (for serving)
ice (for serving)
small basil leaves
lime slices

Arbeitsschritte:

Add the 1 pound fresh strawberries, 2 cups of the water, ¼ cup granulated sugar, 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice, 3 to 5 large fresh basil leaves, and pinch of kosher salt to a blender.
Blend until completely smooth. The mixture will be foamy, which is normal. (Note 2)
Pour the mixture through a fine-mesh strainer into a large bowl. Use the back of a spoon or spatula to gently press the mixture against the strainer, extracting as much liquid as possible. Discard the solids. (Note 3)
Transfer the strained mixture to a pitcher. Add the remaining 2 cups water and stir until combined. Add the sliced strawberries.
Refrigerate for at least 1 hour before serving. This allows the foam to settle and gives the flavors time to blend.Serve well chilled over ice and garnish with basil leaves or lime slices, if desired.
