Good rains across Madhya Pradesh have filled dams and prompted the Energy Department to shelve its contingency plan to buy electricity from other states amid earlier fears of a weak monsoon. Adequate dam storage has also opened the option of hydropower generation if required. The state’s power demand is around 20,000 MW.
