BJP leader and BMC House Leader Ganesh Khankar proposed that every housing society in Mumbai plant at least one tree to help compensate for the loss of around 45,000 trees and mangroves affected by the Versova-Bhayandar Link Road project. He said the proposal received support at a Tree Authority meeting and aims to boost green cover and reduce urban heat.
