Maharashtra is preparing a Data Centre Policy with Standard Operating Procedures to regulate the growing digital infrastructure sector. The MPCB and IIT Bombay are working on guidelines covering environmental impact, zoning and resource use. The move follows protests in Thane’s Balkum over an upcoming AWS facility’s noise, heat generation and water consumption concerns.
