Jewellers’ Body GJC Urges Centre To Roll Back 67% Gold Hallmarking Fee Hike, Cites Impact On Small And Lightweight Jewellery

The All India Gem & Jewellery Domestic Council has urged the Centre and BIS to withdraw a 67% increase in gold hallmarking charges. The fee has risen from ₹45 to ₹75 per article under new regulations. GJC said the higher cost could affect lightweight jewellery and smaller businesses, seeking a review and consultation before implementation.
