Economic offences in Indian cities have surged, with an average of 117 daily cases reported in 2024, a significant increase from 86 in 2018. Forgery, cheating, and fraud, particularly in the Rs 1-10 lakh range, constitute the majority of these crimes, with larger scams also prevalent.
