BMC officials said sterilisation, along with anti-rabies vaccination, is the only sustainable solution for controlling the stray dog population. The new ABC centre will enhance the city's sterilisation capacity while supporting dog-catching drives across Bhopal. Dogs undergoing sterilisation will also be vaccinated against rabies to reduce the risk of infection.
