ISKCON Pandharpur unveiled 'Airavata', a 3-metre, 500-kg mechanical elephant donated by PETA India, officials said. The robotic elephant, capable of moving its head, ears, eyes, trunk, tail and spraying water, joined the Sri Jagannatha Ratha Yatra during Vyasa Puja. PETA India said the initiative preserves religious traditions while preventing cruelty to captive elephants used in temple festivals.
