New polling shows Democrat James Talarico leading Republican Ken Paxton in the closely watched Senate race in Texas. The same polling has Democratic gubernatorial nominee Gina Hinojosa leading three-term Republican incumbent Greg Abbott by 4 points. That comes as a new survey of the nation’s 37 most competitive congressional districts shows Democrats in a strong position to flip control of the House this November. The poll, conducted for The Cook Political Report, also finds voters in these districts are eager to see a new Congress do more than simply hold President Donald Trump to account, but also make fundamental changes to the political system.
