Russia on Friday claimed a major battlefield advance in its war against Ukraine. According to the Russian Defence Ministry, troops from the Vostok Group captured the settlement of Aleksandrovka in the Dnipro region. The ministry also claimed Russian forces seized 11 communities across the Dnipro, Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia and Donetsk regions over the past week. The announcement comes after Russia launched a large-scale overnight drone and missile attack on Kyiv, with Ukrainian officials reporting more than 20 civilian casualties and widespread damage. Air raid sirens sent thousands of residents into shelters as emergency crews searched through the rubble of damaged residential buildings.
