In research involving IIT Bombay, IISER Pune and IISER Kolkata, scientists discovered peptide KTDP that blocks kinesin-1, a transport protein moving fat droplets inside liver cells, reducing VLDL-based fat release. In cell and zebrafish studies, triglyceride and cholesterol levels dropped about 50 per cent without liver damage, pointing to a new strategy for treating metabolic disorders.
