The Maharashtra government will make domicile certificates mandatory for drivers seeking licences for bike taxis and passenger four-wheelers from August 1, subject to legal approval. The policy aims to curb illegal operations, improve passenger safety, create jobs for local youth and regulate the growing commercial transport sector.
