Lovato returned as Mitchie in Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam, in 2010. The sequel continued the story of Mitchie and her friends as they competed against a rival music camp. Her role in both films became an important part of her early acting and music career. In 2025, Disney announced Camp Rock 3. It confirmed that a third instalment was in development for Disney Channel and Disney+. Lovato joined the project as an executive producer alongside Joe, Nick and Kevin Jonas.
