The BMC's Improvements Committee has approved a proposal to convert an 8,450 sq m football ground at Bandra Reclamation into an exhibition centre by amending DP 2034. Environmental activists and Opposition corporators have opposed the move, arguing Mumbai cannot afford to lose scarce public open spaces. The proposal will now undergo public consultation before final approval.
