India has backed a UN resolution aimed at enhancing the accuracy of global cartography. This initiative seeks to address long-standing distortions in landmass representation, particularly those stemming from the traditional Mercator projection. While supporting equal area projections, India has highlighted the importance of maintaining technological neutrality in the selection of map projections, steering clear of endorsing particular styles.
