The Maharashtra government has formed a state-level task force to prevent female foeticide and illegal abortions, with Dr Neelam Gorhe appointed chairperson. The panel will monitor implementation of PCPNDT and MTP laws, inspect sonography centres and recommend action against violations. It will conduct field visits and submit reports to the Public Health Department every three months.
