Western Railways has shut down a wind-solar hybrid pilot at two Mumbai suburban sections after it generated 49.44% less power than the cited solar benchmark and cost about 4.86 times more per kWp. The ₹19.47-lakh project also faced battery maintenance requirements, limiting its viability against conventional solar power.
