Maharashtra will seek special one-time Central assistance to protect nearly 2.5 lakh hectares of fruit orchards in drought-hit Marathwada and western Vidarbha. With water sources drying up, the government is considering water supplies and support through the VB-G RAM G scheme to prevent orchard losses and protect farmers' long-term horticultural assets.
