Piyush Goyal, the Commerce Minister, has advocated for broadening Indias public procurement platform, GeM. He stressed the need to bring more state agencies on board and reach district levels to enable competitive pricing. The platform has already facilitated over ₹5 lakh crore in annual procurement, notably from defense. The upcoming GeM 2.0 promises to enhance functionalities and promote future growth through technological advancements, including AI and financial systems integration.
