Calcutta HC upholds eviction; says inherited tenancy had only 5-year protection | - The Times of India
NEW DLEHI: The Calcutta high court on August 13 upheld the eviction of a tenant whose father had inherited the tenancy after the West Bengal Premises Tenancy Act, 1997 came into force, holding that his tenancy rights ended five years after his father's death. The court also held that rent receipts issued to the tenant during this five-year period did not create a fresh tenancy.
