Maharashtra has granted Market of National Importance status to the Mumbai Agricultural Produce Market Committee, with Marketing Minister Jaykumar Rawal appointed as Chairman. The decision, under the Maharashtra Agricultural Produce Marketing Act, 1963, dissolves the existing board and brings the market under new regulatory and administrative rules.
