Italian prosecutors are investigating a contractor building a new US consulate in Milan. The firm Caddell Construction is accused of paying Indian workers significantly below the poverty line. Workers reportedly earned less than five euros an hour for 60-hour weeks. They also paid substantial fees to secure their jobs. Prosecutors have appointed an administrator to rectify the situation.
