The Centre has directed the Maharashtra Forest Department to investigate the suspected poisoning of over 25 mature trees in Kille Gaothan, CBD Belapur, after environmental groups approached the PMO. Activists allege damage from drilled holes, bark cuts and suspected chemical injections. The probe will establish the cause and whether action is warranted.
