Riyadh’s King Khalid International Airport has faced major disruption following another reported attack, with flights diverted or cancelled, passengers evacuated and the US mission warning American citizens to avoid the airport and surrounding areas. Flight-tracking data cited by Reuters showed that, at one point, every flight heading towards Riyadh had either been diverted or cancelled. More than a dozen ambulances reportedly rushed towards the airport following a loud explosion. Witnesses described evacuations and injured people on the ground. A hospital source cited by AFP said dozens were injured, with at least five Saudi nationals reportedly receiving intensive care. Some casualties were evacuated by helicopter. The disruption is also affecting international carriers, with airlines suspending or cancelling services. Saudi authorities have not yet publicly established the full circumstances of the latest explosion. The Houthis have previously warned commercial airlines against operating in Saudi airspace amid the widening confrontation with Riyadh.
