Eric Cheng, a part-time staffer on Nithya Raman's mayoral campaign, was terminated after making inappropriate comments. His remarks regarding Black voters and a Michigan Senate race faced backlash and criticism. Political strategist Michael Trujillo highlighted the ignorance demonstrated in Cheng's comments and called for an apology from the campaign. Ramans campaign quickly distanced itself from Cheng's remarks and issued a public apology.
