Michigan's Senate race has taken a sarcastic turn as Democratic candidate Abdul El-Sayed mocked Republican rival Mike Rogers over attendance at his campaign event. Asked about a birthday gift basket Rogers presented as a political jab, El-Sayed repeatedly questioned whether people had attended the Republican's event and how many had shown up, echoing the crowd-size rhetoric often associated with President Donald Trump. The exchange followed Rogers' Halloween birthday stunt featuring gifts intended to ridicule his Democratic opponent. With the November 3 midterm election approaching, the rivals are trading increasingly pointed remarks in Michigan's closely watched Senate contest.
