Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif used his UN General Assembly address to present Islamabad’s version of the 2025 India-Pakistan conflict, thanking US President Donald Trump for his alleged “timely intervention” and claiming the US President helped save hundreds of millions of lives.Sharif also raised Kashmir, saying its resolution was necessary to prevent South Asia from returning to the brink of conflict, and brought up the Indus Waters Treaty. India has consistently rejected third-party mediation claims over the May 2025 cessation of hostilities and maintains that Jammu and Kashmir is an integral and inalienable part of India.The Pakistani Prime Minister also repeatedly praised Field Marshal Asim Munir and credited him with helping create “space for diplomacy.” India is expected to use its Right of Reply at the UN to respond to Sharif’s remarks.
