Itanagar shutdown against Siang project passes off peacefully - Rediff.com India News
A dawn-to-dusk shutdown in Itanagar Capital Region, called by the Public Rights Action Committee (PRAC) over the Siang Upper Multipurpose Project (SUMP), ended peacefully on Wednesday. The bandh was called off after the Arunachal Pradesh government responded positively to demands, including the release of detained activists. The Siang Indigenous Farmers' Forum (SIFF) is now leading negotiations with the Chief Minister's Office regarding the controversial hydropower project.
