Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney has called for a stronger, more sovereign and independent Canada while outlining plans to expand economic opportunities through partnerships with First Nations. Addressing a meeting of federal, provincial and Indigenous leaders, Carney stressed the importance of developing major projects, sharing economic benefits and strengthening Canada's ability to chart its own course. His remarks come amid trade tensions with the United States under President Donald Trump. Carney also highlighted new investments in Indigenous education, housing and infrastructure, arguing that Canada's economic future must be built through cooperation and respect for Indigenous rights.
