Outdated treatment system leads to water shortage in Kasauli villages - The Tribune

The Jal Shakti Department’s continued reliance on alum to treat turbid water during the monsoon has left residents of several villages in the Kasauli area grappling with drinking water shortage and concerns over its quality. Natural water sources at Larah, Gorti and other locations turn highly turbid after heavy rainfall. Department officials use alum as a coagulant to settle suspended particles before supplying water. The process is time-consuming and often forces the suspension of water supply for hours or even for days, leaving many villages struggling with scarcity during the rainy season.
