Israel has announced four countermeasures against Britain following London’s decision to sanction trade and services connected to Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank. The measures include closing Britain’s Consulate General in Jerusalem, removing British representatives from the International Gaza Support Center, terminating UK training programmes for Palestinian Authority security forces and barring 12 British elected representatives alongside other nationals. Britain says the measures target unlawful settlement activity rather than ordinary trade with Israel. Israel calls the sanctions discriminatory and an interference in its election. The dispute has now moved beyond commerce—into Palestinian diplomacy, Gaza coordination and West Bank security.
